Intent
At Lyndhurst Community Primary School, we inspire and challenge our pupils though high-quality texts and progressive curriculum to build upon previous teaching, with regular assessment to ensure each child’s needs are met to reach their full potential.
Our school vision ‘Support, Challenge and Inspire’ is intertwined within the Writing Curriculum.
Support
We guide and nurture each individual on their own personal journeys to becoming successful writers. Ensuring children are confident and take pride in the composition and presentation of their writing.
Challenge
During writing lessons children are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be able to write clearly, accurately and coherently, adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences. Children will develop the skills to reflect on their writing being able to edit and improve to ensure the best possible outcome.
Inspire
Through writing for a range of audiences and purposes, we ensure our children are inspired and motivated to write. We provide opportunities for children to write not only through carefully though about stimulus but in their personal writing projects. Teachers have the flexibility to adapt their planning to meet the needs of their class and find ways to engage their children.
This writing progression map shows the skills taught in each year group, in each element of writing.
